Mr. Yogeshwar Sangwan
Ambassador of India to Lao People’s Democratic Republic
Ambassador Yogeshwar Sangwan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994. He has served in the Indian Missions in Iran and Romania. He was Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Tehran from 2012-2016. He was Ambassador of India to Armenia and Georgia from 2016-2019. He was Protector General of Emigrants in the Ministry from 2020-2021 He was Joint Secretary (Multilateral Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs.
Prior to his assignment in Lao PDR, Ambassador Sangwan was Ambassador of India to Paraguay from 2022-2025.
Born on 1 January, 1970, Ambassador Sangwan has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Ambassador Sangwan is married to Mrs. Indu Chahar and has two children. His interests include books, movies and outdoor sports.
Ambassador Sangwan assumed charge as Ambassador of India to Lao People’s Democratic Republic on 28 February, 2025.
