The Government of Uttar Pradesh has taken the initiative to create a forum for building effective and meaningful relations and strengthening its engagement with the overseas Indian community from Uttar Pradesh residing in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR/Laos) and reconnecting them with their roots.

Uttar Pradesh has paved the way towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ through progressive initiatives focusing on economic growth and development. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has proactively drafted several investor-friendly policies across different segments targeted at rapid industrial development and employment generation in the state. The State is committed to nurturing a special relationship with the UP diaspora [Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)/Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)/Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)] of Uttar Pradesh in all spheres for free flow of ideas and thoughts for ushering in holistic development and growth.

Understanding the importance of U.P. NRIs, the Government of U.P. have accorded high priority to matters that are reported or referred to it by the NRIs/PIOs/OCIs. The integrated website-www.nri.up.gov.in has been launched to facilitate NRIs/PIOs/OCIs from U.P.

In its quest to connect with each one of the Uttar Pradesh’s NRIs/PIOs, the Government of U.P. has taken the following initiatives:-

1. Diaspora Connect: NRI Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh engages with its diaspora for growth and prosperity of the state. Regarding this initiative to create a forum for building effective and meaningful relations and strengthening the engagement of the overseas Indian Community from Uttar Pradesh residing in Lao PDR, the state would like to prepare a Database of High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs)/ Prominent Indians/ Migrants from Uttar Pradesh in Laos and other nodal contacts or prominent Diaspora Associations.

2. Investment: NRI Department is looking to attract High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs) from Uttar Pradesh diaspora residing in Lao PDR and looking to invest in Uttar Pradesh.
